Social and Recreational Opportunities

Once you arrive in Lynn Lake, there is no mistaking that you are in Canada's north; free, rugged, silent and breathtaking. This is the Land of Little Sticks, where spruce trees have been crafted by the forces of nature. Retreating glaciers scarred the landscape leaving behind eskers. Today, these eskers are illustrations of the force of nature, and present unique development opportunities. The beautiful surroundings, our northern location and supported by our businesses and community services, attract tourists and businesses year-round. What better place is there to cold weather test vehicles?

Amenities, lifestyle & entertainment after a long day of testing, different hotels, restaurants, recreational and cultural activities are available to individuals involved in the testing programs. Exciting winter activities include skating, curling and hockey at the local arena, ice fishing in the Sport Fishing Capital of Manitoba, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. In addition, the Lynn Lake Arena opens every November and closes in April. Within this arena, many activities take place, including hockey, figure skating, power skating, Canskate, curling, and a free skate during the week.

Lynn Lake is a community proud of its heritage.  Not just as a mining community, but also of the heritage of aboriginal peoples who have inhabited the area for generations. Here you can still visit traditional native traplines, or paddle out to isolated native communities and purchase beautiful hand-crafted works of art from the artists who crafted them.
